The symbols presented in this section are based on the current International Specification for Orienteering Maps, which defines the symbols used in Foot Orienteering maps.
It should not be confused with the control descriptions, although there is a correspondence between many of the symbols used on the map and those used on the control descriptions.

Other map specifications
